They’ll be visiting classes, giving a presentation (Jan. 23 8-9pm, SCAD Museum of Art) and reviewing portfolios for their Art and Animation internships. Visiting will be representatives from Vicarious Visions, Central Design, Infinity Ward, Raven Software, Sledgehammer, and Toys for Bob. The deadline is next week (Tuesday the 14th) Your students have already been notified via email, but please share with your classes to raise engagement.

Please bring your own Copyright appropriate photograph, but if not appropriate, student will work from Image provided by the Professor. Due Class 7, Scanned and Placed in Dropbox. Quality of Finish and Presentation will affect grade, so a high quality scan is required.

5-Color Limited Palette (Mark Carder), Live Model
Assignment:
Using an expanded 5-Color Palette, from which we can create a full compliment of colors, we will conduct a 2 session painting from Photographs. We will first lay in the underpainting in a monochromatic color and then continue with the full palette. This palette, attributed by the portrait painter Mark Carder, consists of:
Cad Yellow Med
Alizarin Crimson,
Ultramarine Blue
Burnt Umber
Titanium White

CELEBRITY PORTRAIT
Assignment:
The student will develop concepts and ideas to create a Celebrity portrait of the student's choosing. The celebrity can be an Athlete, a Politician, Musician, etc. in a style and approach that best reflects the character and personality of the celebrity. The student will create a written prospectus for the purpose and goal of the portrait, e.g. "What is the celebrity famous for"?, What is the proposed use of the portrait"?, etc. The Portrait must be painted in a Magazine cover format cropped size 8 3⁄8” x 10 7⁄8” with a title and text (Whether real or imagined). Finish Due Class 9 ideas and sketches approved by Class 4.

EDITORIAL PORTRAIT
Assignment:
Each student will generate 3 idea sketches for an Editorial Illustration that will highlight the importance of the Portrait as a major element of the image (Not using or highlighting celebrities). Working with the Instructor and feedback offered by peers, the student will then generate a full-color illustration, in the students preferred medium. Sketches are due, Class 8.
During this assignment the student will explore the creative process by exploring concepts such as Archetypes, setting, lighting effects, etc. The image can be a vertical or horizontal format. Due: Class 15.

AGE PROGRESSION
Using the photos of yourself and the photos of your older family members, create an age progression finished sketch of yourself, any medium. Due by class 18.
